Do you want to Reveal Ashford?
Revealing Ashford is a new initiative
which will help drive a positive change in the local arts scene and
bring significant developments on programming of the arts by
supporting artists and arts organisations to take to the streets,
open up locations for artists and stake a claim and live up to
it. We are delighted that we have received additional support
from Arts Council England and Kent County Council for this
project and welcome Anna Moulson to the town as our 'Revealing
Ashford' Creative Producer!

Stour Valley Arts Successful Funding news
Stour Valley Arts is delighted with the news
of a significant uplift in their funding from Arts Council
England. This is a vote of confidence for the work they have
developed over the last 17 years. It supports Stour Valley
Arts ambitions to extend our activities into Ashford town
centre, to further develop our work in commissioning artists and to
engage with the community, particularly young people.
Stour Valley Arts moves to the Town Centre
At the end of March, Stour Valley Arts' forest office will
become an education and artist's workspace as the organisation
moves its office to a larger building in central Ashford. The
forest office will continue to be used for meetings and become
available for artists in residence, artists training sessions and
as an alternative workspace for groups needing to work indoors due
to bad weather.
The move to Ashford will mean that the organisation can realise
its plans for the Stour Valley Arts Gallery. It will also be better
able to accommodate the organisation's expanding activities with
larger office space, extra meeting rooms, artists' studio and more
education space for indoor arts activities in central Ashford. In
addition the Stour Valley Arts Gallery has disabled access and will
allow the organisation to reach a more diverse audience.
The Stour Valley Arts Gallery will be launched on 11th June with
an exhibition of Jem Finer's work including his new film, developed
from his sound piece, 'Score for a Hole in the Ground'. Using a
solar- powered camera mounted in the trees to record his sculpture
over a full year as it bedded into the forest environment, Finer
has produced this new stop-motion film. There will also be a
collection of the resulting photographic work. The gallery
programme will feature SVA commissions and projects and this year
includes a young people's exhibition Ifilm and Mike Marshall's film
and photographic exhibition in the autumn.
