Food and drink
Whatever your preference, there really
is something to suit all tastes and pockets here in the
borough. You can choose from a wide range of eateries,
ranging from Michelin starred restaurants right through to
fast food establishments for those on the go.
Both Ashford and Tenterden, along with the surrounding villages,
are well served by restaurants and pubs. For a special
occasion, sample the delights of The West House in
Biddenden, situated in a 15th century former weaver's
cottage in the High Street. It is one of only two
restaurants in Kent to be awarded a Michelin star.
Alternatively, The Wife of Bath restaurant in the
village of Wye offers both 'A La Carte' and set menus, and
has achieved two AA rosettes for it's food.
The wealth of pubs in the area provide a good choice of meals,
and are often located amidst stunning scenery. The Dering Arms in the village of
Pluckley in 'Darling Buds of May' country is a previous
regional award winner of the Egon Ronay Seafood Pub of the
Year.
Ashford town centre boasts a selection of dining including
contemporary
English,
Italian, Chinese
and
Indian restaurants as well as the usual
fast food outlets. The Designer Outlet shopping centre
also has a dedicated food hall serving a variety of snacks and fast
food. Tenterden High Street offers a number of eating
establishments ranging from
tea rooms and
cafes to
pubs,
inns and
restaurants.
