Windmills
Stocks Windmill
Kent’s tallest post mill, dating from 1781, stands in the
grounds of Stocks Mill House, once owned by the actor Norman Forbes
Robertson, artist Randolph H. Sauter and Admiral Sir Edward
Parry.
Machinery moved out early 1900s. Given to Kent County Council in
1980. Renovation work and some machinery replaced with new stones
carried out by Kent County Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
The mill is opened by the volunteers “The Friends of Stocks
Mill”. There is a small display of artefacts and photos. A few
souvenirs are also available.
