Easy Access for All
The
Disability Discrimination Act (
DDA) gives disabled
people important rights of access to everyday services,
including those provided by local councils. It places
responsibility on us to ensure we make reasonable
adjustments to our services to allow disabled customers to access
them.
Our Customer Contact Centre was designed to fully meet the
requirements of the Act and we remain committed to improving
accessibility for all our customers. All Customer Services
facilities are provided on one level and a lift is available for
customers entering the Civic Centre at car park level. Within
the Contact Centre wheelchair access to service agents has
been included in the design.
To assist our visually impaired customers, public access
computers are installed with software especially designed to
increase the size of onscreen images. The computers also
'speak' aloud when the keyboard or mouse is used. Our customers who
are hard of hearing can also contact us via 'Type Talk.' To
get in touch with us using Type Talk, please call 01233 330744.
This website has
also been designed for ease of use, view our Accessibility webpage for
