The Deputy Chief Executive oversees the management of Financial Services, ICT Services (including Customer Services) and Housing Services, which operationally is undertaken by three Heads of Service.

He is also responsible for mentoring managers responsible for many of the Council's corporate services including: Personnel and Development services, and the Council's Property Services and Corporate Governance services. These roles are to ensure that strategic resources are applied effectively to deliver continuous improvement in services to the community and that the Council's important corporate and service objectives, which are set by the elected members of the Council, are achieved.

Paul Naylor is also the Chief Financial Officer for the Council.
