Ashford Borough Council, Jobcentre Plus, local health care agencies and voluntary organisations are among those cooperating with Kent County Council and central government to open up their services to local people under one roof.

The pioneering development is underpinned by advanced interactive web-enabled technology.  Local people can simply drop in to the Gateway Centre and take advantage of computer enabled learning packages as well as free internet access with latest touch-screen facilities.  Advice on social services and housing is also on offer, along with information on health and voluntary groups.  Some Ashford Borough Council services are also dealt with 6 days a week.

The Gateway is located in the centre of Ashford Town in the Park Mall shopping area.  The centre is an example of only a handful of such service provision across the entire country.

Ashford is one of the government's major target growth areas.  With 31,000 new homes and 28,000 new jobs planned by 2031, demand for services will increase substantially.  Ashford Borough Council work with the Kent County Council team and other local partners in order to develop innovative methods of service provision for a fast expanding population.
