Publicity Displays

It is an offence to wilfully obstruct the highway without lawful authority, therefore any static display which consists of placing items on the highways (including the pedestrian areas) needs to be authorised by the Council by applying for a Publicity Display Consent.

If you wish to promote your organisation by having a display in Ashford Town Centre you need to apply to the Ashford Town Centre Partnership on 01233 664410.

Consents are usually only granted to charitable or non-profit making organisations or to organisations whose displays will provide a benefit or service to the community, there is no charge for this. However, in Ashford town centre companies can pay a fee and promote their business.

Two main sites are used in Tenterden, outside the Town Hall and by the Woolpack Inn car park.

If you want to distribute leaflets in the Town Centre a permit might be required. Please refer to our webpage Distributing Free Matter for more information.
