Go4 Play 2011

With the BIG Lottery funded projects now complete, Ashford Borough Council and its partners are looking for new ways to sustain the excellent progress that has been made from 2008-2010.  Over £1 million was invested in Play from 2007-2011!  Retaining this level of investment is going to be difficult, but the updating of the Ashford Play Strategy will provide a focus for efforts and identity prioritise areas for investment.  The Play Strategy is nearing completion and will be published shortly alongside the results of the Play Audit, which seeks to prioritise investment in play spaces for the coming three years.

Funding for play projects has reduced dramatically over the past year due to the economic downturn.  However, we are striving for new ways and new funding to continue to deliver Go4 Playdays and to continue to invest in play spaces.

Other Play Resources

Kent Children’s Fund Network has developed a range of resources both for professionals and for families to use in their home.   Their Playful Ideas booklets are excellent resources, providing ideas on play activities across a range of subjects.  The latest to be published is Playful Exercise Ideas, designed to compliment the Play Pack and to demonstrate play activities that promote activity.  For your copy, email Joel.
