Discounts for Council Tax
Discounts
The full Council Tax bill is worked out on the assumption that
there are two adults over 18 years of age in a dwelling. If
this is not the case then the following discounts may apply.
Single Person Discount
If only one adult lives in a dwelling as their main residence,
we will reduce the charge by 25%.
If someone is working away from home or on holiday, it will not
usually count as a change of residency and a discount cannot
normally be applied if just one person remains in the household in
such circumstances.

Second Homes
If a residential dwelling is furnished, but not used as anyone's
only or main home, we will give a 10% discount.

Disabled Band Reduction
If you have made an adaption to your property for a disabled member of your household you may
qualify for a reduction.

Other Discounts
There are times when you may claim
a discount even if there are two or more adults living in a
property. This is because in some circumstances certain
people are not counted when working out the number of
occupiers.
Certain groups of people are not included when we work out your
bill. These are known as disregards and you may be entitled to a
reduction.
