Number of Local Properties Let and Proportion let Locally

During 2010 – 2011 Ashford Borough Council advertised 77 village properties that were subject to the local connection criteria within our Lettings Policy.

Of these 77, 53 were actually let to an applicant with a local connection. The others were not allocated to applicants with a local connection as there were no local applicants who bid or who bid and were suitable. Therefore, the property must be given to the highest pointed person regardless of connection.

Average Waiting Time

Unfortuntely, it is never possible for us to provide you with an accurate waiting time, nor is it possible to guarantee that you will be rehoused. This is due to a very  high number of applicants waiting for a limited supply of available social rented properties.

Unfortuntely, this will result in long waiting times for the vast majority of our applicant and it will only be those in the highest need that will have waiting times of under 18 months.

Please contact our Housing Services Team on 01233 330688 for an approximate estimated waiting time based upon your points level and the type of property that you require.
