Repair Responsibilities

To help clarify Council and Tenants responsibilities for repairs, the Repairs Monitoring Group and Housing Services have jointly agreed a list of common repairs and identified who is responsible for their resolution and the associated costs.  These are listed in our On-line Repair Handbook.

Apart from replacing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, batteries, plugs and fuses, you should not undertake electrical work.

PVCu Double Glazed windows and doors require very little maintenance but they will stay in good condition if you clean them regularly with warm soapy water and lightly spray the hinges with WD40 or a similar product, every six months.

Where a repair is identified as being your responsibility, you will need to arrange for and pay for the repair.

We recognise that many people, including some of our elderly and disabled tenants, may have difficulty organising the repair or undertaking it themselves.  Should you have any such concerns you can report a repair or get assistance by contacting our Repairs Team by phone on 0300 003 0711 or by email the Repairs Team.
