Births Marriages and Deaths

Kent County Council's Registration Service is responsible for the registration of births, deaths and marriages and civil partnerships occurring within the borough. It licenses venues where civil marriages and civil partnerships may be conducted and registered and provides citizenship, baby welcoming and renewal of vows ceremonies. In addition, it is the custodian of all birth, death and marriage registers dating from 1 July 1837.

Births

If you have recently had a baby you will need to register the birth.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships

Both the bride and groom are legally required to give a notice of marriage, in person, at the local register office.

Deaths

All deaths must be registered with a registrar of births and deaths in the area where the death happened. They must be registered within five days unless a coroner is investigating the circumstances of the death.
