Repton Park

Repton Park is getting brand new community facilities, including
a community building, multi-use games area and football
pitches
As a result of local housing development, around £1.2m funding
is available to create new facilities for the
neighbourhood, which are due to open in 2014.
Ashford Borough Council is leading the
project as part of its commitment to improving community and youth
facilities across the borough.
Where is it?
The Repton Park housing development is sandwiched between the
A28 and the A20, and is a phased development of 1,250
units, with its own high street and a brand new primary
school (due to open September 2012 www.reptonmanorprimary.co.uk).
The community facilities will be located on what will
be the main high street of the development, next to the
primary school. There is also provision for a health venue.
Get involved!
We want to gather the local community's ideas on what
spaces in the community building are wanted and how they will be
used, as part of the first stage of consultation on the plans.
We are particularly keen to hear from those residents already
living on Repton Park or in neighbouring estates such as Godinton
Park or Orchard Heights.
What different spaces can be in a community
building?
Plans include a grassed football pitch, and a multi-use games
area that can be used for tennis, football, netball, basketball and
general kick about. The community centre could include some of
the following spaces;
- Public cafe with a social meeting area.
- Large hall (200 capacity) for events, sports clubs and
activities.
- Small hall (50 capacity) for dance rehearsals, sports clubs and
parties.
- Meeting and IT room.
- Youth or indoor play space where children and young people can
meet, hang out and enjoy activities.
- Access point for external organisations to use and meet the
public to offer advice on services such as housing, health and
employment.
What activities could be provided?
A range of other activities could take place in the community
space, including:
- Outdoor sports, games and kick about
- Arts and drama clubs
- Events
- Parties and private hire
- Sports and dance clubs
- Courses and education
- Social clubs
