Sharps Syringes and Clinical Waste

We provide a collection service for used syringes and other medical waste from domestic properties within the Borough.  Nursing Homes and other medical establishments should arrange for this type of collection through their normal waste collection contractor.

To obtain this type of collection, you should contact your GP, who will contact us to set up the service.  Once you are registered all you need to do is telephone 01233 330576, your details will be taken and our Contractor will contact you to tell you when he will collect the waste.

This type of clinical waste should not be put in with your domestic waste.  Syringes are dangerous and could stab the waste collectors; if waste collectors are injured in this way, you could be pursued for their loss of earnings should they need to take time out from work.

Discarded syringes

Should you find discarded syringes on public land, these should be reported us by using our online form or by telephoning 01233 330535.

If you find syringes on some one else's land, you should report it to the proprietor.
