Get Ready for Winter Campaign
The ‘Get Ready for Winter’
initiative has been launched and has involved a number of
Government Departments, Industry Bodies and Voluntary Sector
partners including the British Red Cross, WRVS, St John Ambulance
and the Salvation Army.
This has involved them working together to
provide top tips on keeping themselves and their families warm,
healthy and safe through the cold winter.
This initiative follows the severe winter of
2010/11 which affected many individuals and communities and
highlighted the need to ensure that good advice and guidance was
easily available.
The purpose of the project therefore is to:
· Raise awareness of the
need for winter planning
· Highlight some very
simple and straight forward advice – for example, 5 top tips for
travelling
· Provide one point of
entry (‘Direct Gov’ website) – for individuals to access a range of
advice and links to further information
