Skin Piercing Byelaws
Acupuncture, Tattooing, Semi-Permanent Skin-Colouring, Cosmetic
Piercing and Electrolysis
Comprehensive hygiene rules are enforced by
Ashford Borough Council to ensure businesses carrying out
acupuncture, tattooing, semi-permanent skin-colouring, cosmetic
piercing and electrolysis operate safely.
These byelaws set hygiene standards relevant
to cleanliness and hygiene of premises, staff and equipment.
They aim to increase health protection and reduce the risk of
transmission of infections such as Hepatitis. The Secretary of
State has confirmed the byelaws which came into force on 01 April
2010.
All premises and people carrying out
acupuncture, tattooing, semi-permanent skin-colouring, cosmetic
piercing and electrolysis must be registered by the council's
licensing team and are inspected by environmental health staff.
