Accident Prevention

The council provides a range of services that aim to reduce the danger to road users, whether they are in a car, on a bike, or using the footways. It does this through accident reduction and travel awareness campaigns, investigation of road safety concerns and cycling training.

All road traffic injury accidents occurring within the Ashford area are recorded on a computerised database. This information is used to identify problem areas and routes: these are then subject to investigation and remedial treatment where appropriate. The council supports road safety and travel awareness campaigns and initiatives by the Department of Transport, by distributing leaflets and posters.
