Conningbrook Lakes
Conningbrook
Lakes is a project that will make a real difference
for those who live in and around Ashford.
The project stems from Ashford Borough Council’s long-held
vision of a family-orientated country park around Conningbrook
lakes, and incorporating the Julie Rose Stadium and offering a
variety of leisure and water-based activities for residents and
visitors.
Nature will be another beneficiary as the country park concept
protects and enhances Conningbrook’s special patchwork of waterside
habitats.
Working closely with Brett Group, which owns 80 per cent of the
site, the council reaffirmed its draft plans for the site in June
2011 and agreed to make
ConningbrookLakes a corporate
priority.
Ashford Borough Council is involving local groups and
stakeholders in developing the park’s concept, which will
determine what facilities will be included in the country park.
The park will include some housing development to make it
financially self-sustaining, and proposals are for an attractive
lakeside village (public consultation and planning permission
pending).
A website has been developed by the Brett Group, as the major
land owner and a partner in the project.
