Ashford Bids For More Cash
Ashford Borough
Council’s Executive Committee last week endorsed the proposal
by the Ashford’s Future Partnership Board for a new funding bid to
Government.
In December 2007, Ashford was awarded £23 million funding by the
Communities department. Ashford now has the chance of a share of
extra funding from £100 million held back then.
Cllr Paul Clokie, Leader of Ashford Borough Council, said: “In
the previous Programme the Ashford’s Future partnership made a
comprehensive business case which was very well received by DCLG
and reflected in the amount of funding received.
“This refreshed bid will strengthen references to environmental
and community strategies; make clear links between housing
trajectory and infrastructure provision and provide greater clarity
on the delivery status of key development sites.”
Refreshed Programmes for Development are due by 1 October
2008.
