Flynn sell out at St Mary's
St Mary’s Church welcomed
its first sell out crowd when the arts venue played host to folk
star Johnny Flynn last weekend.
The folk singer and actor played to 350 people in the Ashford
church, with support from both Tenterden singer Nina Clark, and
Brighton’s Marika Hackman.
This was Johnny’s first live gig in several months, and fans
travelled from Notting Hill, Hastings and Hampshire to see him
play.
The singer had previously been booked to perform at the church
in November, but had to reschedule due to his appearance in the hit
stage play Jerusalem in London.
His performance was the final performance in the first seasons
for Revelation St Mary’s – but the new season kicks off in a matter
of weeks.
One of the nation’s best loved Britpop bands, The Lightning
Seeds will perform in Ashford on Tuesday 21st February as part of
their new UK tour.
The award-winning Aurora Orchestra will also be making a welcome
return to the church on Saturday 10th March ahead of their upcoming
live broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Former Steeleye Span vocalist and all round folk legend Maddy
Prior appears on Wednesday 28th March, and one of the country’s
most gifted jazz singers Claire Martin OBE performs with her jazz
trio on Thursday 19th April (NOT Friday 13th April as previously
advertised) Tickets are now on sale, and full details of prices and
where to buy can be found at www.revelationstmarys.co.uk.
