Gypsy sites consultation

Planning ConsultationAshford Borough Council is seeking views from the public on accommodation sites for the gypsy, traveller and travelling showpeople community.

The Gypsy, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople Accommodation Issues and Options report highlights the various issues and range of potential options for the allocation of pitches within the borough.

The consultation starts on Thursday 11th March for six weeks, ending on Thursday 22nd April 2010.

The Issues and Options report does not suggest any particular sites but asks for sites to be put forward for consideration and explains the types of locations that are likely to be acceptable.

It also seeks views on the Council’s approach to selecting the most appropriate sites and how they should be managed.

The Issues and Options report deals with the following:

The report is the first stage in the preparation of the Gypsy, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople Development Plan Document (DPD).

The DPD, which will follow at a later date, will show the sites considered to be the most appropriate and there will be an opportunity for comments at that time.

Community groups and organisations as well as interested members of the public and potential future occupants are asked to submit their views on the report before the 22nd April.

Copies of the Issues and Options report will be available between 11th March and 22nd April during opening hours at:
