Last Chance To Win A Bike

Active Ashford LogoTime is almost up to enter the Win a Bike competition, from Active Ashford, with the closing date for entries this Sunday, 5 October 2008, at midnight.

To be in with a chance of winning, simply submit a question that you would ask to Jamie Staff, Gold Medal winning cyclist at this year’s Olympic Games, by visiting the Active Ashford website.

The competition is free to enter and is open to anyone in the Ashford Borough who is under 16 years of age.

The prize is a brand new bike, donated by Halfords, which will be presented to the lucky winner at the forthcoming Civic Ceremony to recognise Ashford’s sporting heroes.

The evening ceremony, to be held at Ashford International Hotel on 15th October, will feature a special presentation to Jamie Staff as well as tributes to other of the borough’s sporting heroes, including Nick Boylan and Lisa Dobriskey.

Jamie, who comes from Brabourne and has recently agreed to become an Active Ashford Ambassador, said:

“It’s very flattering to be the subject of a competition but it’s more important that young people get the opportunity to get out and be active, in whatever sport they prefer.

It would be great to see another cyclist from the borough make it to the Olympics in years to come, though.”
