What's Going On
Ashford is now the
fastest-growing town between London and continental Europe, with
plans to create 28,000 new jobs and build 31,000 homes over the
next two decades.
With so many developments and changes happening across the
borough Ashford Borough Council has this week released the latest
Ashford Development Update, a summary of the major development
sites in the borough.
The update also contains an overview on the main planning
documents, explaining what they are for and at what stage they are
currently at.
The Ashford Development update covers:
- Town centre developments including East/West Street, Charter
House and Ashford Working Mens Club in Station Road.
- Major developments in the urban area outside the town centre
such as Eureka Park, the former Powergen site, Victoria Road, Park
Farm and the former Templer Barracks site.
- Rural developments including the former Oil Depot in Bramble
Lane in Wye.
Cllr John Kemp, portfolio holder for planning and development,
said: “With so much change happening we recognise many of our
residents want a quick, easy way of keeping up to date with what’s
going on in their town. The Ashford Development Update provides a
useful snapshot of what’s planned, where and when.”
