Fishing
The Royal Military Canal, which
runs through Appledore, Kenardington and Hamstreet, is renowned for
roach, tench and pike whilst the River Rother, which flows
through Newenden, offers excellent trout fishing. Tenterden Trout
Waters, Chequertree Trout Fisheries and Stowting Trout Waters also
offer a rewarding day's fishing.
Mid Kent
Fisheries in Chilham offer fishing facilities for
trout, carp, roach and tench in the grounds of a 19th century
watermill. Chilham Match Lake provides a purpose-built match
fishery and day ticket water.
Any angler, aged 12 years or over, fishing for salmon, trout,
freshwater fish or eels in England must have an Environment
Agency rod licence. You can purchase rod licenses online from
the
Environment Agency website. Fishing clubs issue day tickets for
people requiring a days fishing or you can join one of the two
clubs, Ashford Angling Society (for Singleton Lake) and Stanhope
Fishing Club (for the Moat), for more regular fishing.
We have day to day responsibility for Singleton Lake and the
Moat at Park Farm, this includes the maintenance of the sites, such
as grass cutting and safety equipment checks.
