Chilham

ChilhamThe attractive 15th century village of Chilham, with church, pub and castle all set around a central village square, is thought to have been settled in Roman times. Situated in the attractive valley of the River Stour with the North Downs passing through the parish, the village has great architectural interest and attracts thousands of tourists each year. Chilham Castle, private residence set in 25 acres of gardens with formal terraces and magnificent views which are open on special occasions and a traditional May Fayre is held in the village square each year. There are over 500 acres of woodland in the parish and many lakes, which have been formed as a result of extensive digging for ballast on either side of the River Stour.
