Kenardington

KenardingtonKenardington is just off the B2067 between Hamstreet and Woodchurch on the minor road towards Appledore. The church stands on a hill overlooking the Royal Military Canal and Romney Marsh on the site of a Saxon camp which was stormed by the Danes in 893 A.D. The church tower dates from 1170 A.D. and the nave is what remains after the church was struck by lightning in 1559. The parish comprises animal and arable farming, fruit orchards, glass houses and a chicken farm. There is a National Trust walk along the canal and picnic sites and nature walks in Park Wood.
