Castles

While there are no castles within the borough we are in close proximity to some of England's most prestigious tourist attractions, including two outstanding historic castles.

Leeds Castle - set on two islands on the River Len in the heart of Kent, Leeds Castle has been home to royalty, lords and ladies for over 1000 years.  Featuring aviaries, gardens, a maze and much more, the castle, situated off of Junction 8 on the M20 near Maidstone is always a good day out.

Bodiam Castle - just over the Kent and Sussex border to the west of Tenterden is Bodiam Castle, one of Britain's most famous and evocative castles, looked after by the National Trust.
