Compulsory Purchase
A Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) is a statutory order that
enables local authorities to purchase property/land for public
interest purposes.
This is most commonly related to proposals for future planning
and transport developments and can come from local authorities,
Kent Highways or Government agencies.
Anyone who has land acquired as part of a CPO is generally entitled to
compensation. If you have further enquiries please consult
your legal advisor, land agent or contact the Citizen's Advice
Bureau.
Please visit the
Commmunities and Local Government website for a number of
documents related to CPOs.
