Homelessness Review and Strategy
The Homelessness Act 2002 requires that Local Authorities
produce a Homelessness Strategy that addresses:
- Preventing homelessness;
- Ensures that there is sufficient
accommodation available for people who are or may become
homeless;
- Ensures that there is satisfactory
support for people who are, or may become homeless, or need support
to prevent them from becoming homeless again.
Our Homelessness Strategy for 2008 - 2012 has been produced
as a result of partnership working with both providers and users of
council services and is informed by the Homelessness Review which
took place between July 2007 and February 2008.

The Homelessness Strategy 2008-2012 explains what the Council
and its partners are going to do to tackle the problems caused by
homelessness in Ashford and has been produced in partnership
with stakeholders and other supported and social housing
providers. Previous users of the housing and
homeless services provided by the Council have also provided
input into the strategy by telling us about their experiences
of homelessness and what their expectations and hopes are for
the future.

We have also produced a
Homelessness Strategy Action Plan which summarises the actions
contained within the strategy which will help us to prevent and
reduce homelessness in Ashford over the next five years.
