Use of Council Land

If you are holding a charitable event and your organisation wishes to use Council land for the event, you can apply to the Council for consent to use the various public recreational and housing land within the Borough.

Consents are usually only granted to charitable or non-profit making organisations or to organisations whose displays will provide a benefit or service to the community.  One of the conditions is that the organisers of the event must have current Public Liability Insurance of at least £5 million.

There is no charge for charitable/non profit making organisations who wish to have consent to use Council land for their event.  However, there are charges and special conditions applicable for circuses and funfairs wishing to use Council land.  Please see the section on Fairgrounds for further information.

There are several sites throughout the Borough available for use.  The following are just an example of the areas available:-

Please note that, except in special circumstances, permission is not normally given to use a site for more than one day during the year. In order to give us time to deal with your application it should be sent to the Council at least three weeks before the intended date you wish to use the site.
