Translation and Communication Services
Using Google Translate
We offer this translation service as an assistance to
customers but cannot be held responsible for the qualilty of the
translations provided, nor for any misunderstanding or loss
(consequential or otherwise) due to the transalations
offered.
Face to Face
In order to help us assist our customers and to help ethnic
minorities to gain equal access to services, we are able
to provide translation services to our
customers. There are a number of languages that we
are able to deliver from members of our own staff.

If our member of staff is unavailable, or if you require a
language not from the list above, then we will arrange an
appointment for you and provide a confidential, reliable and
impartial interpreter.

Telephone Translation
Alternatively, if you wish to telephone this office but are
unable to speak confidently in English, we also offer a
telephone translation service provide by Applied Language
Solutions. This means that the Council Officer will be able
to arrange an immediate 3-way telephone call with an independent
translator who can translate the conversation for both you and for
the Council Officer.
Sign Language Interpreting
Ashford Borough Council Officer's are also able to arrange for a
sign language interpreter to assist you in communicating with
us. Sign Language Interpreter's are usually arranged via
Community Interpreting Service or via Applied Language
Solutions.
Induction/Deaf Loop System
For customers who wish to visit the Civic Centre but who are
deaf or hard of hearing and who wear a hearing aid or loop
listener, we do have an Induction/Deaf Loop System available to
assist you with your communication with a member of the Customer
Contact Centre.
