Queries and Appeals
If you think we have calculated your bill incorrectly contact
the Revenues Service immediately and we will check your
account.
If there is an error, we will correct it and issue you with a
new bill.
If the problem is more involved we will write to you with a
full explanation or telephone you if this is more convenient.
If you have asked us to change your bill and this has
been refused you may be able to make an appeal of that
decision.
Appeals
Again the first thing you should do is contact the Revenues
Service. It may be that we haven’t got all the information to send
you a correct bill. By giving us more details about your
circumstances, it may resolve your problem.
If you still don’t agree that your Council Tax charge is correct
there are some cases where you are entitled to appeal.
The Council Tax regulations allow Taxpayers to appeal against their
charge in two areas
- The band that your home has been valued at
- The decisions made by the Council regarding liability for the
charge or your entitlement to a discount, exemption or disablement
relief
If you wish to appeal against your Council Tax Benefit entitlement
please see the information on Benefits appeals.
