Maintenance
Approximately 98 per cent of homes owned by Ashford
Borough Council now meet the national Decent Homes Standard, which
means we are well on the way towards achieving the Government's 100
per cent target by 2010. This excellent result, verified
by independent surveyors, puts us well ahead of the majority of
other local authorities.
At Ashford Borough Council, we are committed
to improving our housing stock over and above the basic
requirements, with modern facilities of the highest
standard. That is why we have produced this new look
maintenance plan, designed to let you, the tenant, know exactly
what work will be carried out to your home in the coming years.
To ensure you always have at least three years
notification of major repair works, our maintenance plan now covers
four years. In addition to the work outlined in this plan, we
will continue to redecorate communal areas, resurface car parking
areas and upgrade security.
Housing Services hold a database of all
maintenance work carried out over the past 20 years. The dates
of previous work undertaken and its expected lifetime were taken
into account when producing this plan.
Due to the proposed PFI regeneration plans
currently under negotiation, Stanhope properties do not feature in
this plan. Properties that are purchased under the Right to Buy
scheme are also not included.
There is no need to contact us, we will advise
you of who the contractor is and when the maintenance work will be
carried out, nearer the time.

Garden Maintenance
All tenants are expected to ensure their gardens are kept neat
and tidy.
The Council does not offer a garden
maintenance service but we can sometimes make a referral to the
Volunteer Bureau who will help with gardens for elderly or disabled
tenants. However this service is limited and usually heavily
oversubscribed.
To seek assistance, please contact the Housing Services Team by
phone on 01233 330688 or email the Housing Team.
