Maintenance
Ashford Borough Council has a programme for
maintaining its 5000 plus properties to ensure that it meets and
exceeds the government’s basic property condition standards known
as the ‘decent homes standard’.
The Housing Service carries out improvement
work to your home such as bathroom and kitchen refurbishments;
upgrades heating systems; and replaces roofs in an order which
reflects the age and the history of maintenance for each property
and the cost and available budget for the works.
To manage this process the Housing Service
keeps a database of all the major works carried out over the last
20 years, and the expected life of these elements. We can look up
your property for you to check what works are planned for your home
in the next 30 years. (Please bear in mind that future work
programmes can change due to the budget allocation for each
year)
We contact you giving plenty of notice when
work is due to take place, and surveyors visit you to discuss what
work is to be carried out, any choices you will need to make, and
the practicalities of the works including timescales and any likely
inconvenience you may experience.
We have produced a series of leaflets to
provide more detailed information. These are available from the
Housing Service by contacting 01233 330688 or click below to

Garden Maintenance
All tenants are expected to ensure their gardens are kept neat
and tidy.
The Council does not offer a garden
maintenance service but we can sometimes make a referral to the
Volunteer Bureau who will help with gardens for elderly or disabled
tenants. However this service is limited and usually heavily
oversubscribed.
To seek assistance, please contact the Housing Services Team by
telephone on 01233 330688 or email the Housing
Team.
