Employment, Volunteering and Work Placement Advice
Employment Advice
Our newly launched employment advice service offers you the
chance to get information about employment, training and
volunteering. We offer this as part of our new Housing Plus
service which is offered at the Ashford and
Tenterden Gateways. Advice is provided on a one to one
basis although we do run workshops such as CV and jobsearch
Workshop which are run by partners such as Business Link and Next
Step.

Volunteering Opportunities
Ashford Borough Council have partnered with the Ashford Volunteer
Centre to provide a dedicated Volunteer Advice Service from the
Ashford Gateway.
Voluntary work can be anything from being a
good neighbour, to working with charities or other non profit
making organisations and provides you with opportunities to develop
your skills and explore other interests while boosting your skills
and your cv and letting employers know that you are able to show
commitment.
Ashford has a number of volunteering
organisations, our
Groups and Clubs Directory page gives you the opportunity
to find volunteer groups and clubs in the area that you live
in.
Other ways to find out about what you
can do are to:
• look in the local library
• log on to the internet, most libraries and
Ashford and Tenterden Gateways now provide a free internet access
service
• check community centre notice boards
• read local newspapers
• listen to local radio, and
• ask friends and family.

The Ashford Volunteer Centre is based at the Ashford Gateway on
Monday and Tuesday from 9.30 til 12.30.

Work Placements
We are able to offer a limited number of one month unpaid work
placements at Ashford Borough Council for people who are out of
work and looking at either a career change following
redundancy or looking for a first step back into employment and
wish to build up their skills and confidence. If you would
like to receive an application form to apply for one of these
work placements, please contact our Employment Advisor either
