Open and Derelict Properties

A local authority may take action where a building is unoccupied, or where the occupier is temporarily absent, and the building is not effectively secured against unauthorised entry or is likely to become a danger to public health.

 

The authority may undertake any works necessary to prevent unauthorised entry or to prevent the building becoming a danger to public health.  The usual remedy is to board up the property.
