Sheltered Housing

We own and manages over 450 sheltered housing dwellings in 13 schemes throughout the Borough. In addition to this there are a further 720 or so “haven” bungalows with a social alarm system provided.

In each case dwellings are for people over 50 years of age.

The following link gives more details about our sheltered housing service, although it is important to remember that in late spring 2007 we will be introducing a new working practice when we will no longer have residential Scheme Managers but mobile staff proving cover and support for scheme residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Communal Heating Charges

We base our communal heating charges on the actual heating and lighting costs for each individual Sheltered Scheme. The cost for each scheme are then apportioned equally amongst its residents and charged as a weekly amount in addition to the rent and other service charges. The charges are based on the costs incurred in the previous year.
