How to Get Involved
You can get involved by:
- Telling friends and family about scrutiny –
in particular about current reviews
- Sharing your views with a scrutiny committee
– in writing or by submitting the form below
- Suggesting topics for future Scrutiny Reviews
– Councillors welcome all suggestions but it cannot be
guaranteed that the topic will be reviewed. Scrutiny is
not a forum in which to raise individual complaints, as the council
has a separate procedure for dealing with complaints. As a general
rule, topics should relate to community issues that affect the
people of the borough.
- Attending a meeting to talk to the
councillors
How do the councillors make sure your views are heard?
We use questionnaires, surveys and other
methods to listen to the views of local residents. If you are
affected by any issue being reviewed by Overview and
Scrutiny you are an important source of information for the
committee. The committee will also seek advice from external
organisations and independent experts, as well as businesses,
parish councils, the county council and community and voluntary
organisations.
If there are any issues you think the Scrutiny Committee should
look at please complete the form below. All we need are your
contact details and information about the issue you would like the
Scrutiny Committee to look at. We will contact you
within 5 working days to let you know whether your
issue will be considered by our Scrutiny Committee.
If you need any further information please
email scrutiny@ashford.gov.uk or
telephone 01233 330491.
If you need help completing this form, please telephone 01233
331111 and one of our Customer Service Advisors will talk you
through it.
