Biography

Cllr Paul Clokie OBE was elected to Ashford Borough Council in 1997 and served as Leader from 1999 to 2010. Originally from London, he moved to Tenterden in 1995 after a successful career in IT.

Previously he was a Member of Leeds City Council and a long-standing Member of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames both as a Member and Leader. He is also chairman of Ashford’s Future Delivery Board.

Paul's many hobbies and interests include music and gardening. He is widowed with two children, two step-children and a granddaughter.

His priorities as a Councillor include ensuring all residents get the best service possible within the current limits on resources and that the growth of Ashford is not a tax on existing residents but brings benefits to both current and future residents.

Paul was awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List in 2007 for services to Local Government.
