Overview and Scrutiny
Overview and Scrutiny Committees were introduced by the Local
Government Act 2000 primarily to hold council Executives to
account.
Our Overview and Scrutiny Committee works
with Task Groups to try to ensure that our Cabinet makes
the right decisions as well as improving our performance and
service delivery. The Task Groups also carry out
detailed reviews of council services or issues which affect
your lives. They allow you to have a greater say in council
matters by holding public enquiries into topics of local
concern.

Meetings are open to the press and the public
and anyone is welcome to attend. There are some
exceptions to this, for example, if the subject under discussion is
of a sensitive nature or related to named individuals. It is
intended that Overview and Scrutiny meetings should be as open,
accessible and informal as possible.
