Declaration of Interest
Elected borough or parish councillors are required by
law to complete a declaration of interest form to register
their financial and other interests.
By registering their interests they are giving the public,
council staff and fellow members access to information which may
inform their approach to particular issues or give rise to a
conflict of interest.
Interests which should be declared on the register include:
- Details of their job and business
- Name of their employer, any firm they are a partner of and any
company they are a paid director of
- Interests in any land in the borough
Members who attend a council meeting are also required
to declare any interest they may have in any item on the
agenda.
A full description of interests is set out in the Council's Constitution.
The register of interests is maintained by Member Services and
is available for inspection at council offices.
To find out more about declarations of interests or to inspect
the register please contact Member Services or by
telephone on 01233 330564.
