There are many sports and physical activities available in the borough and we are keen to encourage people to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.  We work in partnership with various organisations in delivering sporting opportunities for all, offering support, advice and guidance for individuals and local sports clubs.

 

Whether its bowls, golf or general fitness we have lots on offer. You can also find out about clubs, disability sport, facilities and sports initiatives, and we also have information about our play areas for you to check out.

Big day for athletics club

Ashford Athletic Club will be hosting their first Open Meeting - The Julie Rose Track and Field Games 2010 on SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST 2010 at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. The meeting is being held in the memory of middle distance runner Julie Rose who was killed in an air crash in 1985. All athletes in the 1500m race will be awarded a special participation medal.

 

Athletes from aged 9 upwards and of all standards may enter. A full programme of events can be found by downloading the event timetable.

 

There will also be a competition available for children aged Under 11, hosted by Jacqi Snare who runs the Julie Rose Juniors/Ashford AC Academy at the Stadium. This age group is encouraged to obtain an entry form from Jacqi at the Stadium.  Entries are £2 for each event.  

 

All other athletes can enter for £2 on-line, or £3 on the day for each event. All payments will be made on the day and numbers will be handed out once you have checked in. Check in must be made at least 30 minutes before your event. We have invited athletes from AC Zele, in Belgium to compete and we are keen to offer them a very warm welcome to the stadium.

Active Ashford website

The Sports Partnership for the Borough of Ashford launched the website on August 24 to coincide with the London 2012 Handover event.  The site contains information on the partnership, how to get Active and much more - go to www.activeashford.co.uk for further details. Active Swim and Active Together schemes successes are also reported here.
