Biography

Cllr. Burgess has represented the Isle of Oxney area on the Ashford Borough Council since 1991.

 

After leaving the Royal Sussex Regiment he joined the road haulage industry eventually obtaining his Certificate of Management Competence and became a Transport Manager.   In the mid 1970s Cllr. Burgess joined a fuel distribution company and he has stayed within the oil industry retail market ever since.

 

Cllr. Burgess has a strong interest in Housing and Planning, which he has used to help maintain Local Needs Housing in the villages, in order to preserve village life.  

 

He strongly supports Parish Councils and assists them whenever requested, attending their meetings when possible.  Having lived in villages all his life, his knowledge is often helpful.
