Nature Conservation
We aim to conserve
and enhance the natural environment of Ashford borough, including
the landscape, biodiversity, natural resources, cultural
heritage and other features of the built and natural
environment.
We want to ensure that future generations can enjoy our rich
geology and to safeguard that we must significantly improve
the protection and management of what we have today.
The protection of our natural
habitats is at the centre of our conservation projects, and in the
borough we are responsible for looking after designated
Areas Of
Natural Beauty (AONB's) and Sites of
Special Scientific Interest (SSSI's).

to the conservation of the built environment to protect

Increasingly conservation issues
are focused not just on the practice of conserving the past, but on
how we work towards the future in respect of climate change and
our global impact. As part of the growth of the borough
we have embraced a variety of climate conscious projects and
practices, including Energy Efficiency and
Water
Efficiency.
As well as our own pioneering
schemes we are supportive of many others in the borough dedicated
to the conservation of the natural environment. These schemes
vary from responsible waste management (Wyecycle) to the
focus on Zero
Carbon Homes.
