Carers
A 'carer' is someone who looks after a friend,
relative or neighbour who needs support because of their sickness,
age or disability. If you are a carer, you may be entitled to
help and support.
For some ideas about where to get advice visit the
Directgov
website. Our website contains information about
financial support you may receive in the form of Council tax
relief.
To assess your needs as a carer, Kent County Council Social
Services offer an
online self-assessment to decide if Kent County Council
can provide you with help and support in your capacity as a
carer.
Kent County Council also offer online support in terms of
advice on
guidelines,
rights and a carers
forum.
Respite care enables carers to take a break from their caring
tasks for a few hours, days or weeks. It may involve having someone
else come and look after the person you are caring for, in their
own home, or it may involve the person you look after going to stay
in a residential home for a while.
You can request respite care through
Kent County Council Social Services.
