Environmental Health

Environmental Health is responsible for a wide range of statutory public health activities.  This work undertaken contributes to the health and safety of Ashford residents and visitors to the Borough. 

The emphasis is on the prevention of ill health but also on the promotion of well being and is achieved by education and the enforcement of public health legislation.

The Commercial team is divided into the following functional areas:

• Food Safety
• Health and Safety
• Licensing e.g. taxis, sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment, gambling and animal boarding/breeding

The Environmental Protection team is responsible for:

• Noise nuisance
• Smoke nuisance e.g. bonfires
• Atmospheric pollution
• Drainage and sewerage problems
• Land contamination issues 
• Permitting of industrial processes
