£1.2m for Repton Park

Newtown Green play areaRepton Park residents are being asked to have their say on what sort of community space they’d like in their neighbourhood.

As a result of local housing development, around £1.2m funding is available to create new community facilities for Repton Park, including a community building, multi-use games area and football pitches.

Ashford Borough Council is leading the project as part of its commitment to improving community and youth facilities across the borough, and wants local residents to share their views on the sort of activities and spaces the community building should have.

Repton Park is a phased development of 1,250 housing units between the A28 and the A20, and, with its own high street and a brand new primary school (due to open in September www.reptonmanorprimary.co.uk).

The community facilities will be located on what will be the main high street of the development, next to the primary school and it is planned for these to open in 2014.

There is also provision for a health venue. Plans include a grassed football pitch, and a multi-use games area that can be used for tennis, football, netball, basketball and general kick about.

The community building could include a public café, large or small events hall, an IT room, indoor play or youth spaces, or an access point for advice services such as housing, health and employment.

On site activities could include arts and drama clubs, sports and dance clubs, educational courses, or social events.

Residents can have their say on what should be included at www.ashford.gov.uk/reptonpark Views are sought, in particular, from residents already living on Repton Park or in neighbouring estates such as Godinton Park or Orchard Heights.
