Create Music Festival 2008

Create FestivalThe 2008 Create Music Festival is nearly upon us and the full line up has been announced for all stages, with more details about all of the other entertainment that is planned.

Returning for its 13th year, the Create festival, plus a cast of thousands, is welcomed back to Victoria Park, Ashford, this Sunday 27 July from noon until 8pm.

Admission is, as ever, free, although with so many food stalls, events and things to do, when it comes to money, don’t leave home without it.

Billed by The Sun newspaper as “the best tribute band on planet rock”, 21st Century Stones are the headline act for the main stage.

The line up is completed by John Wood, More Than Normal, Los Salvadores, One Day Elliott, ShyChlo & the Boys, Springtide Cavalry, D-finitive, Man Eat Monkey, Dolan’s Cadillac and Under The Thumb.

Amy McDermott, lead singer & guitarist from all-girl group Man Eat Monkey, will be playing the Main Stage this year: “Create Festival is a great place to see young, local bands so it’s perfect for us. This will be the biggest crowd we’ve played in front of so we’re all quite nervous but really excited.”

In addition to all of the acts on the main stage, there is also the Right Track Music Stage for up-and-coming bands to get a taste of performing live, and with as many as 5,000 visitors expected on the day, this should be a great experience for them.

Dance music is represented in the DJ tent with Acetate Records providing the headline set, and they will also be running DJ workshops throughout the day.

On top of this feast of music there are lots of other reasons for going to Create this year, including Monty Hammond's Worldwide Funfair, various exhibition stalls, face painting, children's attractions, lots of food stalls, and much more.

Create is the biggest live event in Ashford Borough Council’s musical calendar and brings to a close the whole Ashford Summer Sounds programme, a collection of mostly free events and festivals running throughout July sponsored by English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency.

Chris Dixon, Arts Project Coordinator for Ashford Borough Council, said: “This years Summer Sounds events have been a roaring success, so I hope that Create will be the grand finale everyone expects, as a big thank you to all our sponsors, supporters participants and volunteers”.
