East Kent Live Lit launched
The East
Kent Local Arts Authority Partnership (EKLAAP), is pleased to
announce the launch of East Kent Live Lit, a live literature
network for writers, artists, producers, promoters and venues in
East Kent.
Formed in 2004 to support the growth of
contemporary arts in East Kent, EKLAAP is also looking to access
the benefits and added value that joint working creates. East
Kent Live Lit aims to facilitate networking for local artists,
provide opportunities for professional development and training,
and work toward encouraging and creating bold new work.
The first network meeting was held in
Canterbury in August 2008 and further local meetings will be held
in Ashford, Shepway and Thanet in September and October, with a
view to producing an evening celebrating live literature in East
Kent this autumn.
Chris Dixon, Arts Project Coordinator at
Ashford Borough Council, said: "Ashford has a lot of talented
poets, spoken word artists and writers, as well as some very
interesting venues and spaces to host live literature
events.
“I hope that this network will help artists
and audiences alike to be able to attend regular Live Literature
nights and festivals.”
