Jamie Staff, Gold Medal winner at the Beijing Olympic Games, has agreed to become a sporting ambassador for Active Ashford, the Borough’s Sports Partnership Network.

Jamie joins the existing Ambassadors, adding to a line up of top sporting performers who all share a link to Ashford: Lisa Dobriskey, James Tredwell, Danielle Masters, Candy Hawkins, Nick Boylan, Mike Cogswell and Ian Wright.

Since becoming World BMX Champion in 1996, Jamie has an impressive list of honours and medals to his name, culminating in the world record breaking sprint time by the British trio at Beijing this year where Jamie recorded the fastest ever first lap in a team sprint.

Simon Harris, Sports Operations Development Officer at Ashford Borough Council, said: “Active Ashford is proud to be associated with such a talented athlete and look forward to a long and productive relationship.”
