Memorial Garden Maintenance
Vital maintenance work
to the Memorial Gardens entrance wall started last
week.
The entrance wall on Station Road, opposite the former working
men’s club and Dover Place Car Park, is unsafe and in need of
repair.
The works, which is being carried out by Barwicks, started
on Monday 15 September and should take around six weeks.
Cllr Gerry Clarkson, portfolio holder for cultural and project
services, said: “The Memorial Gardens are an important part of the
town's
open spaces, and provide a quiet area in the centre of the town
where people can get away from the hustle and bustle for a
while.
"Once the works are finished the entrance wall will be safer and
more inviting to everyone”.
